The principality side are set to earn an estimated £200 million on their two stars, with Mbappe alone commanding a £128m fee.

PSG’s Brazil forward Lucas Moura could also move the other way as part of the deal, after a summer filled with speculation over Mbappe’s future.

However, with Southampton closing in on the signing of Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt, the Echo claims Liverpool are ready to pounce if the Saints make it clear they are ready to do business.
