It’s simple, in fact quite simple. I’ve got 15 facts.

Fact number 1:

Nigeria is BY FAR THE MOST POPULOUS COUNTRY IN AFRICA, and I mean by far. No country in Africa is close enough. And also the most populated black nation.

Fact number 2:

Although a very religious country, British American Tobacco (BAT) and Guinness PLC still record quite high turnover annually.

Fact number 3:

The first black Miss World is Nigerian and represented Nigeria in 2001. Agbani Darego (Miss World 2001) Google it!.

Fact number 4:

The countrys military ranks in Africas top 5.

Fact number 5:

Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups with more than 500 languages. Take that to the bank any day any time.

Fact number 6:

There are over 200 public and private universities in Nigeria. Nigerians take education too seriously.

Fact number 7:

Lagos, the usually wrongly assumed capital of Nigeria, is the smallest state in Nigeria in terms of landmass but has a population of over 20million people (the highest in the country). It’s also regarded as one of the fastest growing modern cities of the world. Viva Las Gidi!

Fact number 8:

Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) and David Oyelowo (Selma) are both Hollywood top actors with multiple awards, and Academy Awards nominees for Best Actor in a main role. They are so Nigerian, their names couldn’t give them away any easier.

Fact number 9:

The Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) is the biggest in Africa, and ranks 3rd in the world.

Fact number 10:

This is a rather unpalatable one, Nigeria have been represented in the Olympics since the 60s, but have won just 2 golds so far (both in 1996). No medal was won in London 2012, and just a bronze in Rio 16. However, some remarkable decisions were made by IOC about doping cases in Sydney 2000, which might have meant some changes to the medals cabinet.
