Louis Van Gaal Set For Manchester United Return

Louis van Gaal is set for a return to Old Trafford on Sunday just a year after Manchester United sacked him.

The Dutch manager, who won an FA Cup prior to his departure, will feature in Michael Carrick’s testimonial alongside many VIP guests to commemorate his 11 years of service.

However, Van Gaal arrives embroiled in a fierce row with the Dutch FA and the 65-year-old is outraged by the way he has been treated in his homeland.

It has been revealed that the former Red Devils boss was approached to replace Danny Blind as national manager but the way they proposed their offer was fairly offensive.
In his sabbatical season, Van Gaal was asked by Jean Paul Decossaux, a Dutch FA director, if he could fulfil the role on a part-time basis from his holiday home in Portugal.

He was incensed and told the FA, per Mirror: “So you think Van Gaal is a part-timer? If you’ve so little professionalism, I want nothing to do with you!”

Van Gaal has endured a torrid time since leaving England, suffering the deaths of his younger sister and son-in-law.

He has also rejected many job offers from the likes of China, with some of the lucrative packages offering to make him the highest-paid manager in football.

The Dutch FA are now desperate to make him the nation’s chief executive with the task of appointing his own coach.

But, Van Gaal countered in typical fashion, saying: “How can I do that? You’ve just sacked the best choice – Danny Blind.”

For now, he will take charge of the All-Star XI for Carrick’s testimonial and hopefully, he will receive a positive welcome.
