Fuming Man City Ace Calls for Manchester Derby to Be Played ‘Without a Referee’

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure slated referee Craig Pawson for his performance in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, and then bizarrely called for the upcoming Manchester derby to be made official-free.

The 2-1 defeat to Arsenal was awash with mistakes and the Citizens crashed out to leave Pep Guardiola officially trophyless in his first season in English football.

For Toure, Pawson’s showing simply wasn’t good enough, and the midfielder lashed out ahead of Thursday’s huge game with neighbours Manchester United.

Speaking about some of the decisions, as quoted by the Sun, Toure said: “I think the referees have to stop this. I am very disappointed. It is not the first time, there have been a couple of times.

“If we have to talk about referees, people are going to say “we complain” but when we see the highlights, for me it is very disappointing.

“Maybe on Thursday we are going to have a better referee or maybe play without a referee – I’d prefer that.”

Controversial decisions in the FA Cup clash included Sergio Aguero’s first-half goal being ruled out after Leroy Sane was adjudged to have carried the ball out of play, while the Argentine was also seemingly brought down in the box by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Pep Guardiola and his side are now aiming to hit one last objective for the season, which is to finish in the top four after their final chance of a trophy vanished. They currently lie fourth in the Premier League table, with United just single a point behind now after beating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor.
