Chelsea Determined to Win Race With Manchester United for Monaco’s Star Midfield Enforcer

Chelsea are reportedly the first in line with a host of other European giants battling out to sign AS Monaco’s breakthrough defensive midfielder, Tiemoué Bakayoko.

According to the Metro, Antonio Conte is looking to bring in the France international to form a solid partnership with N’Golo Kanté for Chelsea’s midfield.

The Italian has had to switch in between Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas to accompany Kanté in this year’s successful Premier League season for the Blues.

The Daily Mail have reported Chelsea will bid for Bakayoko in the early days of summer for around £30m.

Statistically speaking, the Monaco player has an 87% passing average, with a recorded 1,067 successful passes this season.

The 22-year old Frenchman has played a pivotal part in Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco set up; with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Bernardo Silva dominating the football scene, AS Monaco has seen itself leading this year’s Ligue 1 season as well as progressed to the Champions League Semi Finals.

Despite getting knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night by Juventus on a 4-1 aggregate, Monaco’s players have been the talk of the season, with Chelsea and Manchester United swarming an interest for players with the likes of Bakayoko.

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have also shown a keen interest in the French youngster.

With United veteran Michael Carrick’s contract coming to an end, Mourinho is looking for an effective replacement to accompany the likes of Paul Pogba in the Red Devils’ midfield.

Should Chelsea sign Tiemoué Bakayoko in the summer, it would only better a squad that has already shown the extent of its strength this Premier League season.
