Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil Has Just Broken Steven Gerrard and Ryan Giggs’ Record for Most Chances Created

With 12 games to go in a frantic Premier League season, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has added yet another accolade to his impressive CV. The German midfielder has now surpassed Steven Gerrard and Ryan Giggs’ record for most chances created in a Premier League season.

The skilful midfielder has already notched 17 assists to his name, making him well on his way to break Thierry Henry’s record of 20. Following Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Leicester, Ozil had created over 100 chances for his team mates this season, he’s only the 13th player to reach such a high number.

Frank Lampard holds the record for the most chances created in a Premier League season at 134, if Ozil is to continue his rate of 4.4 chances created every game, he will become, statistically, the most creative player the Premier League has ever seen.

His stats certainly are impressive but his performances at the brunt of Arsenal’s midfield have perked the eye of many of Europe’s top clubs, and if Arsenal are to fail to win the league again they might struggle to hold onto their star midfielder.
